Make up and outfit of the night

Since getting a better camera, I've been taking pictures of my eye make up a lot more. This is the make up that I wore out last night and for the first time in a long time, I resorted to using my Urban Decay Naked palette. Since the release of the Naked 2 and the Naked Basics palette, this one has taken a back seat. Probably because I don't like the packaging as much as the others and also because the colours are a lot more warm toned than the Naked 2. However, I do love this palette and I feel bad for neglecting it so I thought I'd do a warm toned, shimmery smoky eye and this is how it turned out...
First of all, I know my eye liner flicks aren't perfect (especially on my left eye) but I am getting better and I keep on trying to perfect them. Maybe one day, I'll get there! I started off my using Sidecar all over the lid. This is a colour that I used to use in my crease but I did want a deep smoky eye so I thought it'd be good using it over my lid. I then used a little bit of Smog in the crease to create a more defined shape. To darken and smoke this out, I used Hustle on the outer corner and winged this out. I used Sin to highlight the inner corners of my eyes and also my brow bone. I then used Sin, Sidecar and Hustle underneath my eye to create a gradual effect. The eyeliner I used was the Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner and I set this and darkened the liner with the eyeshadow Creep which is also from the Naked palette. The mascara I used was my favourite Lancome Hypnose Drama. I also used Lancome's Le Crayon Khol Noir on my waterline which is wonderful as it lasts all night long.
What do you think about this eye look? I ended up really liking it as it defined the eyes well whilst also creating a bit of drama. More recently, I've stopped wearing intense smoky eyes but I'm definitely going to start doing so more often as I had a lot of fun creating it.
You can buy the Naked Palette for £36 here.

I also brought out my favourite ever lipstick which is MAC's Lazy Day. I don't use this very often as it was a limited edition item from the To The Beach collection but it's the most perfect nude pink shade ever and I'm really glad I wore it. I didn't take it out with me for touch ups though as I'd be too scared to lose it haha! You can see a swatch of the lipstick here. The outfit picture isn't very good as I had to create a collage on Paint instead of my usual PicMonkey as it just wasn't going well at all. But my blouse was from Primark (in the sale, £2, absolute bargain). It is one or two sizes too big for me and because of that, I paired it with my rip off Disco Pants from eBay. I've been searching all day to try and find a link to them but I just can't so I'm guessing they have stopped selling them. I was a bit apprehensive to wear this but I did actually feel pretty comfortable in them in the end. The shoes aren't what I wore out in the end as they are ridiculously high but the shoes in the picture are from Steve Madden and I will be doing a blog post on them soon!
I didn't get many pictures throughout the night as I think we were all too busy having a good time. But it was a really lovely night out and the picture above is of me and a few friends (and the rest of the football team) off of Facebook so sorry about the LQ image.
What do you think about this look? Do you like wearing heavy eye make up on night's out?

FAVOURITE: Perfumes

One thing that I've been loving a lot recently is perfume and fragrance. It's not something that I've always been that interested in. I have a few perfumes and I wear them everyday but I find myself constantly on the lookout for new smells that I can fall in love with. This past month, I've fell in love with a new fragrance and rediscovered an old favourite of mine thanks to Christmas and my birthday...
First of all is Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck perfume. I've loved this perfume for a long time now, since its release, but I'd never actually owned it. For my birthday however, my sister bought it for me as quite frankly, it's all I go on about. This perfume is so beautiful. It is described as being a "charming and sparkling surprise of vibrant fruits, kissed by a bouquet of soft petals and a touch of sweet indulgence." The notes of the fragrance include freesia, apple blossom, raspberry, vanilla, honeysuckle, white hibiscus, golden amber, sandalwood and peach. The price of the perfume starts at just £20 for a 30ml bottle and you find buy it/find out more information about it here. Boots also currently have the Christmas giftset on offer for just £10 and this includes the 30ml bottle, a smaller 5ml bottle and a body lotion which is an absolute bargain. They don't have any instock online but I found one in my local Boots store the other day so it's worth keeping an eye out for them. Secondly, Britney Spears' Believe perfume. I've owned this perfume before, a long time ago, possibly when it first was released and it's always been my favourite Britney Spears scent. It's like nothing I've ever smelt before and I've truly missed owning a bottle that contains the scent inside (as a Britney fan I keep the bottles even when they're finished). Luckily for me, my dad bought it me for Christmas and I literally can't stop spraying/smelling it. This scent is described as being a "sparkling blend of exotic fruits, soft florals and seductive amber." The notes include guava pulp, golden tangerine, honeysuckle, linden blossom, patchouli, sensual amber and pink pralines. It's a really warm, grown up smell but it still has that classic Britney Spears smell behind it. Unfortunately, this fragrance seems to get left behind in a world that adores Fantasy and Curious, possibly because it was released in 2007 which of course, was a time when she was receiving a lot of negative publicity. But if you do ever spot this fragrance, smell it. You won't be disappointed. The price of this fragrance starts as just £19.55 for a 30ml bottle and you find out more information/buy it here.
Also on a side note, I received a limited edition Britney perfume for Christmas off of my mum (I now only need one more limited edition Britney perfume for my collection to be complete) so I will be updating my Britney Spears perfume collection soon. So if you're interested in her perfumes, keep an eye out for that!
Another thing to note about these perfumes is that they're both EDP which means that they're more concentrated than EDT perfumes so you don't need a lot of the fragrance itself. This means that they're great value for money and they last a long time on the skin so you don't need to keep topping them up throughout the day.
What are your favourite perfumes?

EOTD: Naked Basics Palette

Since buying the Naked Basics palette, I've been loving simple, every day eye make up looks. The palette itself is beautiful and since writing my original post on it, my love for it has continued to grow.
My favourite look that I create pretty much every single day is a simple wash of W.O.S over the eyelid, Venus underneath my brows, Naked 2 in the crease and Faint in the outer corner of the eye and underneath the eye. The eyeliner that I used in these pictures is the Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in black and the mascara I used was 17's Blow Out Mascara in Blackest Black. The Naked Basics palette contains 5 matte eyeshadows and one satin eyeshadow which makes it perfect for creating basic, every day looks. I do sometimes use this on nights out though as it's very versatile and sometimes, shimmer isn't what I want. I love this look because it's simple yet effective and wakes up my eye area which is perfect for late nights and early lectures!
You can see my original review of the Naked Basics palette here and buy one for yourself for just £20 here.
Do you like every day eye looks? Do you own the Naked Basics palette?

TOP 5: Shower Gels

Ahh, shower gels. My obsession. I currently have over 10 shower gels in my shower alone. This doesn't include the vast array of them lingering around in my drawers. I just love shower gels! And I've picked out my current 5 favourites to show you...
Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash, £6.50 - The famous Sugar Crush scent! From the moment I first smelt this, I fell in love with it. I used to (and still do) smell this every Sunday at work and just literally die in a bubble of all things sugary and lime scented. It reminds for of the smell of lemon/lime meringue - so beautiful. The shower gel itself is also very lovely, as are all Soap & Glory ones. It's just urgh, perfection.
Naked Ooh La La Coco De Mer Body Wash*, £3.79 - which is currently on offer for just £2.53! This is a lovely moisturising body wash. It has coconut derivatives and passion flower extracts inside it which leaves the skin feeling irresistible. The smell itself reminds me of being abroad which in this awful weather we're currently having is just a dream. The Naked brand is also a natural brand as they aim to leave out as many synthetic things that they can.
Philosophy Christmas Cookie Shower Gel, £14.00 - Before I get you all excited, I will just say that this is a Christmas limited edition product and you can no longer get a hold of it (well, not until next Christmas anyway). I bought this on Boxing Day with my Boots points as owning a Philosophy Shower Gel has always been a beauty blogging dream of mine. I've read unlimited posts on how beautiful the Christmas Cookie smell is and as soon as I smelt it in store, I picked it up without a doubt. The shower gel itself did retail for £14 but it was on offer for £7 which is still expensive but oh my, it's worth every single penny.
Lush Ponche Shower Gel - Once again, unfortunately this is a limited edition Christmas shower gel. I smelt this on the off chance that I might like it and surprisingly, I did. The shower gel itself was inspired by traditional Mexican Christmas punch so it smells like orange juice, plum, cinnamon and tequila. It's a really uplifting clean smell and it really wakes me up in the morning.
Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel - Of course, the cult classic. Another Christmas limited edition I'm afraid but the good news is, there's a 99.9% chance it will be back next Christmas. I buy a bottle of this every year and it's my favourite shower gel, ever. It smells like all things girly and it even contains glitter inside of it. What more could you possibly want? It's extremely sweet and sugary and just beautiful and fun!
What shower gels are you loving at the moment?

REVIEW: Miss Patisserie

I love bath treats! I don't have a bath at university so whenever I go home, I love using bath bombs/bubble bars to make my baths as pretty and fun as they can be. Ooh I'd also like to say that next year, my house at university will have a bath in it so you can expect a few more bath treat posts in September!
Anyway, I was sent a few Christmas treats from Miss Patisserie to try out. The brand is relatively new (founded in 2009) and it's a brand which sells handmade bath products that not only smell great but have amazing benefits on the body by using natural ingredients such as nourishing cocoa butter and epsom salts. Another great thing about the brand is that they do not test on animals, ever.
Unfortunately, due to university commitments and Christmas, I haven't had time to post this review until now so the products that I was sent were Christmas products. But still, the brand still sell very similar products to the ones I was sent. First of all, I was sent a giftset which contained three Christmas Pudding bath bombs*. Each one of these bath bombs smelt incredible and they reminded me of Christmas. My favourite smell was without a doubt the yellow one as it was citrusy which is my favourite scent.
As soon as I popped this into the bath, it fizzed away beautifully and filled the room with so much fragrance. It didn't produce any bubbles and it didn't colour the bath but the smell was so beautiful that it didn't bother me. The bath itself was also lovely and moisturising and when I got out of the bath, I didn't have to moisturise as the bath bombs were full of lovely ingredients which kept the skin on my body soft and smooth.
The second item I received was this beautiful Snowman Bubble Biscuit*. Isn't he just the cutest little guy ever?! The bubble biscuits has glitter on it which made the bath sparkle and look all pretty. This smelt lovely too. Very fresh and clean. Once again the smell of this biscuit filled the room and my mum downstairs could even smell it which was great. It's also moisturising like the Christmas Pudding bath bombs were.
Overall, I was very impressed with the treats I received. They smelled beautiful and did a wonderful job at looking after my skin which a lot of bath bombs/bubble bars don't tend to do. If you love bath treats, then I'd highly recommend checking out their Bath Bakes which are the cutest things in the world! Also the MacaroonsIce Lollies and Cake Slices all look lovely too. And I guarantee there will be a smell to suit your taste! The prices are also very reasonable and they don't break the bank.
Miss Patisserie products are sold in Harrods, Fenwicks, Bentalls and select independent stores. If you'd like to find your nearest stockists then you can ring 01446 701705. Or you can buy online here.

What to spend your No7 vouchers on...

Yes, it's that time again! The No7 £5 off skincare/£3 off make up are back. So do you know what that means? It's time to stock up on your favourite No7 goodies and try a few new ones. The vouchers have been out for a while now and they expire in just a few days (27th January) so if you're struggling thinking about what to spend your remaining vouchers on, you've come to the right place.
No7 Crème Touch Face Powder - £8.50 - I haven't actually tried this face powder but I'm in need of a new one and this one sounds lovely. It adds extra coverage to the skin while keeping it in place all day long.
No7 Perfectly Bronzed Starfish Bronzer - £11.50 - This is something else that I haven't tried but that is on my radar. This bronzer comes with two different colours so you can mix and match and find out which suits your skin tone the best. Great for pale ladies like myself!
No7 Stay Perfect Shine Free Primer - £12.50 - I've used the Shine Free No7 primer before and I didn't really rate it. It wasn't bad but it was good. It was just okay. So I want to give them another go.
No7 Instant Radiance Concealer - £12.95 - This has been compared to the YSL Touche Eclat but for half of the price! And it's even better with the vouchers.
No7 Instant Radiance Foundation - £12.50 - The No7 foundations have gone through a makeover recently and there's a new foundation matching system at No7 which is wonderful. I'm drawn to this foundation because it's medium/full coverage which a luminous finish.
No7 Blissful Body Wash - £9.50 - My mum received this in a gift set for Christmas and my sister used it and fell in love with it. Which is rare for her so it must be good! It smells beautiful and moisturises the skin.
No7 Sumptuous Bath Soak - £9.50 - Another great No7 bath product. I would highly recommend checking their bath range out. This smells lovely and moisturises the skin too.
No7 Cocooning Body Balm - £13.50 - I adore this! It works as a body balm but with the consistency of a moisturiser which means it's great for dry patches but it sinks in quickly. It also smells gorgeous.
No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour - £6.00 - No7 do a lot of nail polishes and the formula is great. Definitely worth picking a few up with your vouchers.
No7 Eye Contour Brush - £7.25 - I stock up on these when the vouchers come out. And now, they've been redesigned and I think they're even better as they're a lot more dense and pack on colour much better.
No7 Brush Cleaner - £8.00 - I bought this the other day and it does a great job at cleaning make up brushes.
No7 Luxurious Foaming Shower Oil - £9.95 - I bought this with my vouchers last time and while I like it as a body wash, I prefer it as a shaving oil. It works wonders on the legs!
No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara - £11.00 - A great all round mascara! No7 do a broad range of mascaras so there's definitely going to be one for you.
I'd also currently recommend checking out the No7 skin care routines as currently, all No7's skincare is on 3 for 2 (and you can use your £5 skin care voucher) so you're going to end up getting a true bargain! I did this with my new and current anti-ageing routine which I wrote a blog post on. You can view this blog post here. Also, if you're going on holiday it's worth having a look at the No7 sun care and if there's a man in your life, point him in the direction of No7's men range.
What will you be spending your No7 vouchers on?

ANTI-AGEING: No7 Protect & Perfect

I've now turned 20 and I've always known that as soon as I've hit that age, I wanted to start my anti-ageing skin care routine. I'm really, really big on anti-ageing as I already suffer with hyper-pigmentation and dark spots from my acne scarring so I want to prevent any further ageing that I can. I decided to go to No7 and experiment with their anti-ageing routines first as I don't think I've read one bad thing about their ranges and I love how they have different ranges to target different age groups.
Currently, No7 skin care is on 3 for 2 so I could actually complete my moisturisation routine pretty cheaply. I picked up the No7 Protect & Perfect Day Cream £22, the No7 Protect & Perfect Night Cream £23 and the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Serum £23. I should probably start by saying that I have combination skin. My skin gets pretty oily on my forehead and my nose but when it comes to my chin and cheeks (where I tend to breakout) my skin can be a dry mess. The Protect & Perfect range aims to protect young skin by delaying the first signs of ageing, boosting radiance and visibly improving fine lines. For my serum however, I did go for the Protect & Perfect Intense range (which is aimed at 35-45 year olds) just because it was the same price as the original range but this one comes in a pump bottle instead of a squeezy tube which I just preferred the look of! The Protect & Perfect Intense range aims to restore skin's structure by visibly improving deep lines and wrinkles by up to 50%. As of yet, I'm really liking these products. The serum for starters is absolutely beautiful. It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and is just a joy to use. The moisturises provide just the right amount of moisturisation and I love that the day cream comes with 5* UVA protection and SPF 15. Obviously as of yet, I haven't seen any major improvements in my skin as I've only been using them for a couple of weeks. I have noticed a difference in the overall texture of my skin and I find that my base make up goes on a lot more smoothly. I'm hoping that they'll fade my hyper-pigmentation and stop me from looking like a prune in a few years time! Prevention is better than cure after all! You can see all of the No7 anti-ageing routines here. In the end, with discount, the £5 voucher and the 3 for 2 offer, this skin care routine came to just £30.64 but which is a complete bargain considering they're worth £68.
What age do you think is appropriate for starting your anti-ageing routine? What do you think about No7?

REVIEW: Treacle Moon Warm Cinnamon Nights Shower Gel

That's right, my essay is now complete! So that means that regular posting is back. I won't be able to post 6 days a week like I was doing before Christmas but I should be able to post 2-3 times a week which I am so excited about! And for me, there's no way to restart regular posting than posting about my favourite shower gel which got is getting me through these cold nights...
It is of course a shower gel by Treacle Moon. I've mentioned this brand a few times on my blog and it's one that I adore. I'm a big fan of shower gels (I currently have around 12 in my shower alone) as I love changing the scent all the time but I've found myself standing by this one for a good few weeks now. This is yet another special edition shower gel that was created by the fans via a monthly competition on the brand's website. So if you're as obsessed with shower gel scents as I am, it's definitely worth checking out their website and Facebook page to make sure that you can pick Treacle Moon's next delicious scent.
The Warm Cinnamon Nights shower gel* contains warming cinnamon, spicy clove, syrupy ginger, vanilla, a drizzle of sweet honey, zesty orange and a hint of comforting stewed apple. It is the perfect winter scent that envelopes your body in yummyness! The quality of the shower gel is also spot on - it lathers up nicely, moisturises dry winter skin and the scent lingers on the skin.
You can buy this shower gel in Tesco and it retails for just £2.99 for a massive 500ml!

My blog's 3rd birthday!

Wow. 3 years. How quickly has that gone?
I must say, this past year has been without a doubt my favourite blogging year. Since starting university my passion for writing has grown an awful lot and so has my love for all things beauty. Blogging has given me so many opportunities that I would never have been able to have if it wasn't for my own little section on the internet. It's not only given me journalistic knowledge but also beauty knowledge and of course, it's given me the opportunity to talk to people who love the same things that I do. I say this every year and I will continue to do so for the rest of my blogging years but thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support. If I'm feeling down about something or just under the weather, I can rely on your all, your lovely comments and tweets to make myself feel better. We're like a family and I love seeing our family grow every single day.
Blogging is something that has changed a lot since I first started. When I started, there weren't half as many blogs as there are now and "press samples" were pretty much unheard of. Now, blogging is taking over the beauty industry and bloggers are regarded as genuine sources to find out about the latest beauty info. And if there's ever a product I'm looking into buying, I will always type in "*insert product name here* blogspot" into Google and see what other people like myself think. I'm so proud of how much blogging has grown. It really is a great 'industry' and it's lovely seeing the amount of respect we now receive from industry professionals.
I was 17 when I first started blogging. I'm now 20. I've grown so much as a person in such a short amount of time. I've since learnt to drive, got a car, passed my A Levels, started university, been to blogging events, met new friends, lost old ones and of course, danced onstage with my idol. It's been a whirlwind 3 years and I look forward to the next 3 years. Life throws some obstacles sometimes but no matter what, things get better. Always.
Once again, thank you for all of your support. It genuinely means so much to me.

Hair Removal with Sk:n Clinic

One of my new years resolutions was to write more "debate-type" posts instead of just full on reviews. And I guess that you could say this is my first. So here I go and I hope that you enjoy it!
You know one thing that I hate? Hair removal. I have to shave my legs every single day as the hairs on my legs seem to grow back ridiculously fast. I've tried waxing my legs but I don't find the at-home kits very good and salons just end up becoming expensive as they're hard to keep up with. Hair removal creams for me sting my skin and they absolutely stink! They're a big no-no for me and even though they seem very harmless, I've bled so many times from using them. I do have an epilator but it's currently sat in my electronics drawer waiting to be used as I'm petrified of the noise it makes - it looks like a torture device! One option that I haven't tried but is one that I'd definitely consider looking into is laser hair removal. This method is safe, pretty much painless and it works by transmitting a laser beam onto the base of the hair follicle which therefore ends up halting hair growth. Laser hair removal can be used on any part of the body; legs, face, underarms, bikini area... even your toes! The great thing about laser hair removal is that although it is expensive, it's permanent. So once you've had it done, there's a high chance that the hair will never grow back again. I literally cannot imagine how perfect and convenient it would be to never have to shave again! There are so many times where my friends have text me saying "we're going out tonight" and I've had a couple of hours to get ready. A couple of hours for me is definitely not long enough. So I hop into the shower and I have to think about what part of my “routine” I’m going to skip. 9 times out of 10, I skip shaving my legs and throw on some tights. It doesn’t exactly make me feel good doing that and I’d much rather not have to worry about doing it ever again. I spoke to one of my friends earlier and she said that she epilates her legs because the result lasts a lot longer but yes, it’s painful. And she’d love something pain-free. Laser hair removal actually sounds perfect and when I have my own full time job, I can definitely seeing myself investing it. It’s very useful and to be quite honest, I think it’s a necessity! You can find out more about laser hair removal here and look at the prices here. The Sk:n Clinic for me is one that although I've never been, I would recommend. The reviews are wonderful and there are clinics all over the UK. It's actually a clinic that I receive newsletters from as I'm always looking into their skin treatments!
What are your opinions on hair removal? Do you use hair removal creams? Epilators? Shavers? Waxing?

Boux Avenue Knickers Sale

I don't know about you but for me, the Christmas season is the time of year where I put on quite a bit of weight. And when you do put on weight, you don't exactly feel your best. Luckily for us though, Boux Avenue are having a huge sale on their knickers! There's no better way to start the new year than with a brand new underwear drawer. Throw out the old ones, invest in a few new ones and immediately, you'll feel better within yourself.

As well as the knickers being in the sale, Boux Avenue offer free standard UK delivery on orders over £50, free UK returns by post or in store and free next day delivery to Boux Avenue stores so there really is no excuse not to overhaul your underwear drawer this New Year.

I'm now 20!

It feels so strange saying that. I'm no longer a teenager. I can no longer run around playing hide and seek and knock-a-door-run. I have to act grown up. Maybe. Maybe a little bit. It's strange. Will I wake up with a wrinkle? Will I turn grey? Leaving my teens officially is going to weird but my teenage years have been amazing. School, college, university, blog. Everything I've accomplished so far, I'm proud of.
If it's your birthday today, congratulations on being born on the most amazing day of the year haha!
Hopefully, I'll see you when I'm 30!

This is just a quick update to let you know that I am still here and I am still blogging. I've just been really busy recently. I have a law assignment due in next week and law isn't my strong point so I need to put all of my focus into it. It's also my birthday on Friday and I'm back at university so I'm meeting up and catching up with my friends. I hope that you all understand and I hope you're having a lovely 2013 so far. I have lots of blog posts coming up, they're all planned I just need to take pictures and write them. Normal blogging should resume on the 21st of January. I also have an anti-ageing skin care routine post that is scheduled for next week to keep you going. Really sorry about this it's just life is a bit hectic at the moment!

New Years Resolutions

- Lose weight. I've never, ever set this as a new years resolution and I'm not going to do a full on, crash diet. I'm just going to be healthier. Blogs being my books and YouTube being my TV has made me realise that being healthy is key to being happy and if I start looking after my health a bit better now, my body will thank me for it later. So now more late night snacks!
- Start an anti-ageing skin care routine. I hit 20 in a few days till (the 11th to be exact) and I've always read that 20 is the age to start your anti-ageing routine. I guess I've already started it in a way. I always use SPF (even when it's snowing) and I do take good care of my skin. But prevention is better than cure and I'm pretty scared of wrinkles - especially because I already have dark spots on my skin from spots so I'm going to be searching through a lot of anti-ageing skin care products throughout 2013.
- Knuckle down at university. I already try hard on my work when it comes to assignments and exams. But I want to try hard all year round. I don't just want to spend a full week or two doing an assignment. I'm going to come back from every lecture and re-write my notes. Maybe. Hopefully. We'll see.
- Continue blogging. If I do say so myself, my blog has improved a lot this past year. And I want to continue to improve it. I want to change its layout, practice my photography more and just generally get better and more interesting when it comes to writing posts.
- Start saying "yes." I sometimes struggle to say yes to things. A lot of the time, I'll say no to things that are happening because I either think I can't afford it or I have too much work on. But the thing is, I only have another year and a half left at university and I don't want to leave with any regrets. So the next time I'm a little bit skint and me and my friends want to go somewhere, I won't put it off because I'm poor, I'll say yes and figure a way round it with a little bit of money.
So these are my resolutions. I've never really made any. But I'll look back this time next year and see how I've got along. What are your new years resolutions?
