Woooah, how hot has it been this weekend?! And how hot is going to be today for that matter?! One product that is a must-have in this weather is without a doubt deodorant. We all sweat - there's no getting past it unless you have super glands or something - and when the weather is hotter, we sweat more so having a good deodorant is essential to ensure that it's our perfume others can smell. My favourite deodorant brand has always been Dove. My love affair with their deodorants began when I first used their Hair Minimizing deodorant as it didn't leave white marks, it left my underarms very soft, it smelt beautiful and best of all, it kept odours at bay and did its job perfectly.
When brands first starting advertising their compressed deodorants I definitely didn't buy into it. I didn't believe it was true and I didn't understand how they did it (and why they hadn't been doing it for years). So when I was offered the chance to try out Dove's Original Compressed Deodorant,* I jumped at the chance. I wanted to put all of my fears at bay and see if these little compacts lasted as long as the bigger sizes. Dove claim that their Compressed range lasts just as long as previous 150ml Dove deodorants which is perfect if you travel a lot or don't have a lot of space in your beauty cabinets.
First thing's first - the deodorant itself. I've tried many different variations of Dove but this is the first time I've used their Original deodorant and I'm obsessed. It smells very fresh and clean and it does a great job at being an antiperspirant. Dove also claim that these deodorants include the Dove ¼ moisturising cream which gives you beautifully soft underarms and I can't disagree with this claim. Although I doubt I'll switch from the Original formula - purely because of its smell - Dove's Compressed range is also available in many different variants including Invisible Dry 48hr, Go Fresh Cucumber and Green Tea, Go Fresh Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena, Beauty Finish 48hr and Pure 48hr so you're bound to find a fragrance for you.
Secondly, the big question - do these mini cans last as long as the bigger cans? I can't vouch for it as of yet as I'm still using mine up. I've had mine for three weeks now and I've used it every day - and sometimes more - since. I'm not sure how long a deodorant normally lasts me but I'd say around a month so it's going strong so far and I definitely now believe the Compressed claim. The new packaging is much friendlier to the environment and it reduces the carbon footprint by 25% which is always good news. But for us - the consumer - these smaller bottles are great for throwing into your handbag for touch ups throughout the day. Mine even stays in my make up bag now which is wonderful. It's also nice knowing that when you go on holiday, you don't have to take one of those tiny travel sized deodorants that end up lasting you a couple of days.
And finally, Dove's PR being the wonderful PR that it is showed us bloggers that good things really do come in tiny packages. As you can tell from the picture, I received two deodorants - one with the Original deodorant inside and the other with a beautiful blouse from Oasis. Not only does the blouse show how much you can fit inside a tiny 75ml can if you compress it enough but it's also beautiful and I love wearing it in the summer weather showing off my new soft underarms. Definitely a big thumbs up from me. From now on, I'll be buying the Compressed deodorants because I know they work, they're good for the environment and best of all, they're good for my handbag and travel.
