EYES | Simple golden summer smoky eyes







A classic smoky eye. There's no better look for your peepers. And my favourite for summer has to be a golden sparkly one. To create this look, I used my trusty and well loved Urban Decay Naked Palette. As far as neutral palettes go, it's one of my all time favourites and has completely changed the way I view and use eyeshadows. For this look, I used Half Baked all over the lid and underneath the lash line and Buck in the crease to create a little bit of depth and definition. Half Baked is definitely my all time favourite eyeshadow as it's stunning, versatile and warms up any eye look. I then used my favourite eyeliner - NYX The Curve* - to lightly line the eyes. Nothing fancy here, a quick sweep of eyeliner and I was pretty much good to go. Finally, I used the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde mascara* on my lashes. This mascara is fabulous and I'll be writing a full review of it soon. It adds lots of volume and length without clumping the lashes together, perfection! And in case you were wondering, the foundation I used in the image above is Revlon's Colorstay... flawless, right?

One Direction's Where We Are Tour


Now, I'm not going to sit here and pretend to be the biggest One Direction fan in the world. I'm not. Being a massive Britney fan stalker, I know how irritating it can be when people claim to be a bigger fan than you are, despite not knowing their birth weight, exact hair colour shade and every single chart position for every single released song. I am however, a One Direction lover. I don't follow everything they do but I do enjoy their music, have their DVDs and books and constantly ogle over their beautiful faces (particularly Niall, I'm obsessed).

Sadly, when my sister and I were deciding on which concert we were going to book for 2014, we had a difficult choice as three of our favourites were embarking on their tours: Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and One Direction. We decided on Miley (considering she's my second favourite, after Britney) but have since been upset that we didn't get the opportunity to see One Direction's 'Where We Are' stadium tour, especially since watching their This Is Us DVD.

So that's why I'm entering the National Holiday's competition. No, I'm not the biggest Directioner on the planet, but I sure do love the boys. And I know that this tour is going to go down in history. And despite not getting tickets when they were on sale, it's one that I definitely do not want to miss out on. I know it'll be one of my biggest regrets if I don't get to attend.

WISHLIST | South Africa's equivalent to Primark & competition

Just when I thought Primark was "the one", I stumbled upon MRP. Basically, MRP are the South African equivalent to Primark except their prices and clothing range are better and cheaper. The cheapest item in the collage above is just £2 with the most expensive being £12 - incredible. I've spent the entire morning (procrastinating as usual) browsing the website and falling in love with so many pieces. Above is just a small selection of items that I'll be ordering once my student loan graces my bank account. I've been in need of a new wardrobe for yonks now and MRP seems like the perfect place to start. They also ship to the UK for just £4 (or for free if you spend over £34) which is cheaper than some UK high street stores.

MoneySupermarket’s Big Night In








Being a university student, I definitely enjoy going out at night. It's pretty much the law. But some of the best nights I've had during my two years at university - only one year left, eek - involved staying in. You see, when you stay in you have no limits. You can do virtually anything that you want to do as long as you're staying within the law. So when I was gifted £50* from Money Supermarket to have a big night in, I couldn't wait to get planning. University is over, exams are over and our student loans are quite frankly gone. So me, my sister and our friend decided to have a fun night in playing games, watching films and eating food - all on a £50 budget.

First of all, we decided to buy Monopoly City. Monopoly is a game from our childhood and it's certainly one that we all love. Monopoly City is new-ish to the franchise and to be honest, who doesn't want to imagine that they're owning a city for a night (or two as we later found out). Monopoly is a long game and investing in a game is something that I definitely believe to be money well spent. It was on offer for £14.95 and it's something that will last us forever and bring us a lot of joy - and arguments.

Of course, a girls night in wouldn't complete without a few films. The films on the agenda were the following: The Notebook, She's The Man, Dark Night Rising and All Good Things. One to cry at, one to laugh at, one to get excited at and one to hide under the pillows at. Once again, DVDs are a good investment as they can be reused and if they're a film you love, then well, they'll probably never leave your DVD player. Unfortunately, we didn't get to watch all of the DVDs in one night as we were already jam packed with Monopoly but we did manage to watch all four over a two night period - even better!

Another must-have on a girls night in is face masks. Yes, we look a little bit silly whilst trying to be "serious" during our very intense game of Monopoly but our skin felt lovely and soft afterwards. And of course, we had to get lots of nibbles and tipples to keep using going. Coca-Cola, energy drinks, crisps and lots and lots of chocolate. What girl could say no to that?! Everything you see above was purchased with the £50 - can you believe how much you can get with £50?! I definitely believe that staying in is the new going out, especially when you're on a student budget. We had a lot of fun for the two nights the Monopoly games and DVD's went on for and it's something we'll definitely do again when the next student year starts.

30 ways to save £1


I've seen many of these floating around the blogosphere and seeing as it's the 30th anniversary of the £1 - it's only 10 years older than me, eeek - I thought I'd do my own. Being a student, I'm desperately in need of saving money whenever possible and I think I have a few good tips to pass on to you guys.

  1. Instead of going out all the time, go round to your friends house. Why go out for a meal when you can all cook together? It saves money and it's a lot of fun.
  2. If you're a student, make sure you sign up to UNiDAYS. I literally don't purchase anything online unless I've checked this website first. It's wonderful.
  3. Are you beauty addict? Make sure you get your own Boots Advantage Card. I wrote a blog post on taking advantage of your Advantage Card a while ago and it tells you how to make the most of it. It can save you money and earn you a little treat every now and then.
  4. As someone who drives, I can tell you this. Stick to the speed limits! Not only is it the law but it really does help you save money when it comes to petrol.
  5. Bulk buy. If something is on a good offer and it's something that you love, stock up on it! It might seem expensive in the short term but you'll definitely benefit in the long term.
  6. Before you go shopping, make a shopping list and stick to it. It's easy to put whatever you want in the trolley but I promise you, if you make a shopping list, you will save money.
  7. If you have the time, shop around for the best bargains. Why just go to Asda?! There's Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys out there too.
  8. Speaking on shopping, never ever go food shopping when you're hungry. You WILL buy random things that you don't actually need.
  9. Look through your wardrobe. Something that you thought was ugly a few years ago might be back in fashion now.
  10. Hold a blog sale. I'm currently holding one and so far, I've made a fair bit of money to buy even more make up, oops.
  11. Use eBay. I love eBay and if you're on it at the right time and you do your research, you can find yourself a bargain. My iPhone 4 only cost me £122!
  12. Clothes swap with your friends. It's the latest trend and if you're all the same size, you can wear something that's pretty much new for free.
  13. Use mobile and media recycling websites such as Music Magpie and Envirofone. That old Barbie DVD that you no longer watch could make you an extra quid or too.
  14. Budget, budget, budget. And stick to it. If you set yourself a budget of say, £10 a week and draw it out of the bank, hide your bank card so you can't draw any money out of it.
  15. If you're travelling, use MegaBus. The last time I went to London it only cost me £25 return, bargain.
  16. If you're addicted to Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Elle, Look AND Reveal don't buy them all. Come up with some kind of deal with your friends and then swap them so you can read them all by buying just one.
  17. Go to Iceland. Seriously, it's a wonderful place.
  18. Don't buy bottled water. I've never understand why people do. Yes it's only 19p for a big bottle from Asda but by investing in a water filter you'll save a lot of money.
  19. I don't pay bills but if you do, don't leave the tap dripping, turn off things you aren't using at the plug and unless it's really cold, turn the heating off.
  20. Speaking of heating, if it's boiling in the car, DON'T USE THE AIR CONDITIONING. It uses petrol like crazy.
  21. If you think your product has reached the end of its dear life, cut it open and see what's inside. I've had an extra years worth of Urban Decay's Primer Potion simply by decanting it.
  22. Go to car boot sales. I love them when I'm back home. Unfortunately  I don't know of any in Lincoln but you can right find a bargain.
  23. Go to the Pound Shop. Brands for £1? Who can turn that down?
  24. If you're buying a new product, particularly high end, ask for samples and do your research. Don't waste your money because of the hype.
  25. D-I-Y. Don't go to the hairdressers for your hair to be coloured, don't go to the nail salon for your nails, do it yourself! It's fun and you can even invite your friends round for a pamper session.
  26. Takeaway food is the devil. It seems cheap at the time but £5 for one meal? No way. It's a lot cheaper to make it yourself.
  27. I'm a sucker for this as I love Boots Meal Deals but don't buy your food out. Make it yourself and take a packed lunch to work.
  28. Buy a jar to keep loose change in. I ended up having around £20 of 1p's at the end of my first year at university.
  29. If you see something that you want, walk away and decide whether or not you need it. You'll probably forget about it in a few days.

WISHLIST: In Love With Fashion



I know on Twitter I said I wouldn't blog today as I was going to be doing university work - sorry mum and dad - but I couldn't resist playing around on Polyvore when I saw the etailPR competition which you can also enter here. I spent a good hour browsing the In Love With Fashion website coming up with the perfect outfit and I think that I've found it above. I love pink. It's my favourite colour. Yet when I look in my wardrobe I'm surrounded by dark colours that slim my figure down. But since losing weight, I've been wanting to get a little bit more daring with my fashion choices and as you can see, the outfit above screams GIRLY, PINK and I love it. Seeing as the weather is getting a little bit warmer, I decided to go with a skirt and crop tee. The Lou Lou White and Pink 'In Vogue We Trust' Crop Tee and the Love White Floral Print Skirt look like they were made to be worn together. However, being the practical little soul that I am, I decided to throw in the Love Coral Chain Stitch Knit With Heart Elbow Patch just in case the weather dropped a little. I then of course, needed shoes and when I saw the Peach Silver Stud and Buckle Trainer, I fell in love. I don't own any shoes like these but I feel as though they give the whole outfit a more casual feel. And finally, I finished with the Inkwear Peach Flower Tattoo and Barry M Pink Iridescent Nail Paint just because they're cute and pink!

My Perfect Day with Groupon


Groupon are currently running a competition which ends tomorrow - so get your entries in quickly - where you can win up to £500 in Groupon vouchers. Now, I'm a big lover of Groupon. My family in particular use it a lot as you can get some pretty good bargains on there. And for my dad's birthday, I used the site to book him an Indian meal at one of the best Indian restaurants in the country. So I just had to enter this. All you have to do is write a post about your ideal "perfect day." So here's mine.

























My perfect day would without a doubt be in London with my single best friends. Especially for Valentine's Day. I adore London. I love everything about it. But I don't get to go down there often. Once a year if that. But when I do, I walk off the train and my mood is instantly lifted. It's such a beautiful, bustling city that's bursting with life. The world is your oyster in London. You can do anything. So to go down to London with my best friends would be lovely - especially on the day of love. I've only been to London a few times with people - once if you take away the times I've been with college for the day - and that was with my sister. It was such a wonderful weekend and we went to Wembley, on The Eye, Madame Tussauds and the London Dungeons as well as seeing all of the beautiful sites. It was pretty magical. But this was in 2010 and since then, I've always been to London on my own. Now, although I love London, it can be quite lonely down there sometimes. People seem to be very business orientated and it's rare that people crack a smile. In fact, when I went down there the other week to meet the Spice Girls, I said "thank you" to somebody for holding the door open for me and he seemed very shocked that I was polite. So I'd love to take my best friends to London for a day - or weekend - away full of films, sights, wine, pampering and of course, lots of gossip. It'd be great to get away from university life and just relax for a weekend. Relax in a place where nothing matters. Where you can be free. And where I feel the happiest. That would be my perfect day. Well, weekend I guess.

My perfect Valentine’s blogger challenge with Boux Avenue

When I was emailed about the Valentine's Blogger Challenge that Boux Avenue are currently holding, I knew I had to take part. Of course, Valentine's Day is all about love but what about those of us who are single?! So I knew I had to put together a competition entry based on the perfect night in my fellow single ladies. The whole idea around the competition is gift ideas... well, these are just gift ideas to get for yourself. Treat yourself!
Now, I am of course a singleton and my best friend has a boyfriend so on Valentine's Day I will spending the night alone. So I decided to choose the Flirty Frills briefs and Flirty Frills balconette bra as the set is cute, girly and looks super comfy. I then fell in love with the Love Sleep vest and shorts pyjamas and I think they're perfect for us singles on Valentine's Day because at the end of the day, who needs a man when you have sleep and a cute outfit to sleep in?! (Okay, wishful thinking there). If I did have a man to spend the night with on Valentine's Day then I probably wouldn't be able to wear the Novelty Knitted Bunny pump slippers so I'm glad I don't because these are just adorable! Finally, I chose the Heart Plush hot water bottle as once again, really girly, really cute and it's going to keep me warm and comforted!
So there you go! My entry is as I've said quite a lot in this post - cute, girly, comfortable and comforting. Perfect for the other singles out there.
