FAVOURITE: Eye Brow Kits from KIKO and Along Came Betty

If there's one part of my make up routine that I love doing the most, it's my eyebrows. I didn't start doing anything to my eyebrows until I turned 16 which is really weird and strange. And I think that because of that, I embrace it a lot these days. Your eyebrows frame your entire face and changing the way they look can completely change the way you look. For a while now I've been using two eyebrow kits and you know what? I love them both so much that I can't decide which one is better. I have used pencils in the past but like I've said, I enjoy doing my eyebrows so the whole "brush, powder, wax" makes me prefer kits over pencils. 

The KIKO Eyebrow Styling Kit* comes in two different colours; one for deep brunettes and black haired people and the other for brunettes, redheads and blondes.It contains a wax, a light-coloured powder, a dark-coloured powder, some tweezers, an angled brush and a mini spoolie brush. First of all the brushes are great quality. I normally throw away mini brushes that come with kits but these ones stand on their own very well. The tweezers are also amazing and I love the addition of them in this kit - it makes it perfect for travelling. As well as the tweezers the mirror is a great little extra as it means you can do your brows on-the-go. The powders are spot on in pigmentation - they're not so pigmented that the brows look ridiculous or too obvious but the powder is soft enough to create a natural looking brow. The Along Came Betty Br-Wow Kit* comes in just one colour but it contains a light-brown powder, a dark-brown powder, a wax, an HD powder to soften the brows and a double-sided angled brush and spoolie brush. They Along Came Betty range is one that gives Soap & Glory a run for my money and if money was no object, I'd own all of their products. The ones I've tried so far are really great in quality for the price of them. This is no different. The powders are soft and pigmented enough to fill in the brows without giving you a "Scouse-brow" and the wax is wonderful at deepening the appearance of the brows and holding them in place. What I really love about this kit is the HD powder which is included. The HD powder really does soften the look and I don't know, I can't explain it, it just makes the brows look "done" and better. Perfect Brows with Liz Earle

My eyebrow routine has recently had a little overhaul thanks to Liz Earle. Their range of brow products are simply amazing and they're perfect for creating quick and easy, natural looking brows.

Pencil Sharpener £5.00* - I was so happy when this found its way into my post box as I was in need of a good pencil sharpener as I used to use a standard cheap one that's meant for pencil cases - oops! This one is really pretty and it matches the brushes nicely. It's also one of those ones that you can sharpen at your desk without having to stand over a bin as it catches the sharpenings. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get this to photograph nicely but you can go to the Liz Earle website to see what it truly looks like.

Brow Pencil in 02 Dark £11.00* - The thing that I love the most about this brow pencil is that it's very quick and easy to use. I normally use the HD Brow palette but since using this, I've found that I don't need to concentrate as much when filling my brows in. The pigment isn't a lot which for a brow pencil, is fantastic as it means you don't need such a light hand and you're rarely going to mess up. It's very soft but doesn't budge once it's on your brows. Normally, I comb through afterwards with a brow gel and the brow gel rubs the HD Brow powder off so I'd have to wait a few minutes before doing so but with this brow pencil, I can do it instantly.

Brow & Eyeliner Brush £12.50* - I love the fact that this is a double ended brush so it means that when you're travelling, you don't have to panic about which brush you can take. I haven't used this with an eyeliner yet but I have used this with my HD Brow palette and I really like it. It's a nice size which makes it easy to draw your brows on. I also love the design of the brush. It's really pretty and looks classic.

Brow Pencil Swatch

When I have a bit more time on my hand and I'm going out, I do still use my HD Brow palette to make my brows look more intense but for natural looking brows, I find myself reaching for this eye pencil all the time. I'm so glad that Liz Earle have brought out a brow range and the colour range matches my brows perfectly - and mine are nearly black!

What Do I Use On My Eyebrows?

I never really used to be interested in my eyebrows. I used to get them waxed and leave them how they were. However, after watching many people on YouTube and seeing the difference that filling in your eyebrows makes, I started doing it. And these are the products that I use:

The first product that I bought for my eyebrows was the Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil. I do like this, it's okay. I don't think it's anything special though. The brush that comes on the end is a bit too taut and I don't think it brushes through my eyebrows very well. And the formula of the pencil isn't too good either. It's okay, it does the job. But it's not my favourite. However, it is very good for travelling as it's small and you don't have to take a separate brush with you.

Now, the HD Brow Palette is my baby! I absolutely love it! As you can see from the photo, one of the colours is a little bit worn - it's not because I've used it that much it's just because unfortunately it got smashed in the post. But hey ho! Now, I have this in the colour Foxy which is for brunettes. It includes a nude, carbon eyeshadow and two medium brown tone powders. This palette can also be used as an eyeshadow palette to create both a warm, natural daytime look or a night time look - it's very versatile. The shades are obviously matte and they are of a medium pigmentation. Which for eyebrows, is perfect. They're not too soft or too hard.. they're just the perfect formulation for eyebrow use. As eyeshadows they do take a little bit more work. But look fabulous! Also, these palettes have been reformulated and the powders now are anti-smudge and they last all day. I can do my eyebrows in the morning and they'll see me through to nighttime. I also use the brushes that are included - they're really soft and great for combing through my eyebrows and picking up the powders. This palette also comes in two other colours so there's one to suit your hair colour:

Bombshell: For blondes…a nude, a carbon shadow, and two blonde tone powders. When used as an eye shadow palette, this will create a cool natural daytime look and a soft evening look.

Foxy: (the colour that my palette is in) For brunettes…a nude, a carbon shadow, and two medium brown tone powders. Use this as an eye shadow palette to create a warm natural daytime look or a smouldering night time look.

Vamp: For dark hair…a nude, a carbon shadow, and two dark brown tone powders. Used as an eye shadow palette, this will create a dramatic smoky look 

The top four colours are from the HD Brow Palette and the swatch at the bottom is the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil.
