HAIR CARE | Current styling favourites

More recently, I've been getting into styling my hair. Not styling it any differently than usual - I either leave it natural, straighten it or curl it - but I've been looking after my hair more. And my hair is without a doubt loving the extra attention. It's in extremely good condition at the moment and the majority of the time, it does exactly what I want it to. In case you're wondering, I have fine hair that's flat and prone to oiliness.

I've gone through many split end creams in my time but this is the one that I always end up coming back to. Not only does it smell divine - like raspberries - but it does a wonderful job at smoothing split ends down and preventing new ones from forming. I have long hair and I don't get it cut very often so this cream is a godsend for me. It doesn't weigh the hair down either which is a must have for my fine hair.

This leave-in conditioning spray is perfect for protecting against split ends and heat damage. I spray this onto wet hair before blow drying and after styling, my hair feels beautifully soft and bouncy. It sprays out as a lightweight mist that detangles the hair using moisturising agents and amino acids. These both help to maintain moisture and prevent damage.

This range is aimed at mothers and babies/children however, I've been loving using the Detangling Spray on my fine hair. As I have long hair, it tangles up easily and this spray quickly detangles the hair, adds shine and leaves it feeling soft. It uses papaya and coconut extracts to add shine and hydrate and argan oil and fig to help release knots and de-frizz the hair. I should also add that this smells absolutely gorgeous.

I'm not the biggest fan of mousses as I find them tricky to use so this volumising serum is a godsend for me. I apply this to my hair before blowdrying and it significantly increases hair body and fullness. It offers medium control so it holds throughout the day but with natural movement. The serum element of this means that it smooths the hair shaft down so you can say goodbye to frizz.

This on-the-go mascara wand-esque treatment is perfect for carrying around with you on a daily basis. It quickly smooths down flyaways and adds shine. I have a random piece of hair on the left hand side of my head that always sticks up. I could never tame it until I found this product.

This really is a little godsend and regardless of your hair type, it's something I believe that everyone should own. It fixes a multitude of sins including frizz, dry hair, tangled hair and more. I use the light version because I have oily/thin hair and this lightweight formula doesn't weigh the hair down or make my hair appear greasy. It leaves the hair looking shiny and feeling hydrated and soft. It's one hair product that I definitely couldn't be without.

This is a product that I've owned for years but never used. I'm extremely glad that I "discovered" this as it's wonderful at adding volume to the hair. My hair is really lacklustre and a couple of shakes of this underneath my roots leaves my hair looking crazy - in a good way, of course. It does leave the hair feeling a bit bleugh but it's easily washed out the next day. I use this every time I go out at night to ensure that my hair is volumised and full.

Quite simply the best heat defence, ever. It protects your hair against heat damage, smooths the hair down, fights frizz and holds your style like a light-hold hairspray. I use this every time I use heat on my hair and it's wonderful. It's a 3-in-1 product (serum, heat defence and hairspray) and if I'm curling my hair then it holds the style for a lot longer than normal heat defences. I also love the way this sprays - like an aerosol and not a spritz bottle - as it makes it easy to evenly coat the hair.

I've mentioned this beauty many times on my blog before and I stand by everything I've ever said. Yes, it's damn expensive, no I won't be able to afford another when this one runs out but my oh my, I absolutely love it. For effortlessly sexy hair, this is my "go-to" product. It adds texture, body, bounce, waves - everything I could ever want in a hairstyle. And it smells beautiful too. But that little big price tag, oh I hate it so much.

What are your favourite hair styling products? Do you use any of the above?

HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS: Haircare

Wow, long time no post, I hope you're all well! I have been so busy lately with university and holiday stuff and for the first time in a while, I can sit down and write blog posts! I'm going to be doing another holiday series but this time, instead of camping I'll be doing what I'm taking abroad with me on Tuesday to Salou. So I hope you enjoy these posts :)
Shampoo wise I have two Herbal Essences shampoos as these were both £1 on offer at Boots. I have the Beautiful Ends shampoo which I love so much and have the full size version of and also the new Tousle Me Softly shampoo which I've never tried. For a weeks holiday, two shampoos should hopefully be enough however, normally every week I use around 4 different shampoos as my hair type changes so much.. that's why I need two shampoos haha! I'm also taking a travel sized version of TRESemme's 24 Hour Body conditioner as it really nourishes hair yet doesn't weigh it down.

I'm also taking a detangling spray as my long hair gets tangled up enough just with water - never mind with sea water and chlorine! This one is the Kids Supersoft Detangling Spray and it smells beautiful! I haven't tried it yet but hopefully it'll be as good as my L'Oreal spray.

I'm taking a travel sizedTRESemmes Heat Defence spray and 24 Hour Body Blow Dry Spray as I could not live without these products. The Heat Defence spray obviously protects my hair against the appliance abuse and it also calms down frizz and the Blow Dry Lotion makes my hair BIG!

In the little pot I have some of Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Split End Protection Cream. If you read my blog often then you'll know that I don't get my hair cut which means the ends of my hair can sometimes be nightmares. But if I get my hair cut, it doesn't grow. This product is a lifesaver but the bottle is way to big. So I've decanted some product into a small Clinique sample pot - genius!

And finally I have Charles Worthington's Takeaway Sun-Shine UV Protection Styling Spray. I have never tried this but I've had my eye on it for a long time. However, I couldn't bring myself to spend £1.99 on such a small bottle! I did go into Home Bargains though and saw this. As soon as I saw the price, I had to buy it as it was only 49p!

Obviously I'm taking my GHDs aswell.

All of these products are brand new and have never been used.. I've tried a few before however, I will be reporting back on them when I return from my holidays!

What hair essentials do you take on holiday with you?

CAMPING: Haircare

Over the next two weeks I'm going camping and I thought it'd be interesting if I showed you the products that I'm taking with me. There'll be four parts to this series (haircare, bodycare, skincare and make up) and I'll schedule the posts over the next two weeks for you. I'll just say now that I'm not a camping person and I've never been camping in my life.. I'm pretty scared for it! Creatures, cold and barely any beauty products is not good for me haha! Also, it may seem like I'm taking a lot with me but honestly, for me this is not a lot at all!
Back Row L-R: TRESemme Dry Shampoo, L'Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer, Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Split End Protection Cream, TRESemme Climate Control Ultimate Hold Hairspray, Avon Advance Techniques Lotus Shield, TRESemme Heat Defence Spray.
Front Row L-R: TRESemme Salon Shine Glossing Spray, TRESemme 24 Hour Body Conditioner & Shampoo, TRESemme 24 Hour Body Sky High Plumping Powder.

Can you tell that I love TRESemme?
I was undecided on my shampoo and conditioner choice because the bottles of the 24 Hour Body shampoo and conditioner I have are 900ml and obviously too big for camping. But I went to the TRESemme event and I was given these tiny bottles so of course, this made up my mind! I've also got the dry shampoo; obviously a must have for camping! But after speaking to Matthew Curtis about my oily hair he told me to stop washing my hair every day.. so I'm using dry shampoo as a supplement. My L'Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer is a must have for my long hair - it gets tangled so easily! As for my Split End Protection Cream, I couldn't leave it.. after 2 weeks the ends of my hair will be awful so this was a must have. Same for my Lotus Shield and TRESemme Heat Defence spray - it's my must have hair product. Regarding the Salon Shine spray and the Sky High Plumping Powder.. I'm trying them out. I've briefly used them after receiving them at the TRESemme event and so far, I'm in love. But I'm giving them a real test at camping! The hairspray I'm taking is also TRESemme and it has quickly become my favourite hairspray.. I'll tell you why when I get back in my full TRESemme post from the event. I've taken a small can obviously to save room.

What are your must have hair products for camping? Do you love any of the ones that I've mentioned?

Current Favourites

I'm so sorry that it's been a while since I've blogged. I don't even have an excuse for you. I guess I just haven't been feeling inspired. But I'm back! I thought I'd do a current favourites post because I always love knowing what people are currently loving and I hope you do too! - I wrote this at the time of writing this post which was last weekend.. However since then, Blogger has been playing up. It's now working fine thank god!
TRESemme Freeze Hold Hairspray

Don't be fooled by the 'freeze hold' part - it doesn't look so prominent in your hair. I spritz a bit of this on before I leave the house and my hair doesn't move for the rest of the day; and like I said before, it's barely noticeable.

Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Split End Protection Cream

I'm still using and loving this. I can't see me ever abandoning this product to be honest. Because I don't get my hair cut, split ends always appear in my hair however this cream seals them and keeps my hair looking healthy - It also helps my hair grow long.

VO5 Volumising Spray
Just like every other Volumising spray this lifts the roots of the hair and adds a nice amount of volume. It’s also has added heat protection and it doesn’t make my hair look or feel greasy.

Urban Fudge Straight Hair Stuff
This is a straightening mist with heat protection. I've really been loving Urban Fudge's products lately; the orange bottles really entice me in and this one doesn't let me down. It protects hair for heat damage up to 230 degrees (perfect for my 200 degrees GHDs) and because of this, my hair looks very healthy. I used to use the TRESemme heat protection but of course, I like to experiment. I do love them both as they both do an incredible job but I find myself reaching for this more before of the bottle colour. It leaves hair smooth, protected and smelling gorgeous!
Dirty Works Soak It Up Body Moisture Spray
I've always stayed clear of body oils as such mainly because my skin is combination and my hair gets oily quickly. But with this, I thought I'd give it a try. It smells really beautiful and if you've tried Soap & Glory's Flake Away then this is exactly what it smells like. It absorbs easily and leaves my skin feeling nourished, moisturised and smell beautiful. With it being an oil, it also allows my skin to glow which is why I mainly use it on my legs. There's nothing like glowing skin in the summer. I use this daily after I've bathed and/or before I got out anywhere.
Miss Guided nail polish in Misstique
I mentioned this in my summer series nail polish post that you can view here (it includes a swatch)! I'm still loving it.. the colour and formula is wonderful.

Avon Lotus Shield
Yes I’m still in love with this. It fights everyday wear and tear and doesn’t allow humidity to effect my hair. It leaves hair sleek, soft and in the exact same style that you left the house with. I couldn’t be without this.

Barry M Lipglosses
I adore Barry M lipglosses. They're cheap, tasty, well pigmented and last a while on the lips. I couldn't be without them!
Liz Earle Line Smoothing Serum
I use this under my moisturiser before make up and it does an incredible job at making my face look plumped up, smooth and healthy. It's mainly aimed at mature/dry skin but I don't have any and it still works a treat. My skin is combination and this done a very good job at balancing it out and creating a lovely base for make up.. I find that after using this, make up just glides onto my skin and there is no patchyness. If you have very oily skin then I'd recommend using this as a moisturiser on its own as it really is a perfect base for make up. If you have dry skin, this is a wonderful serum that will give your dry skin a boost and smooth over your dry areas. Or if you're like me with normal/combination skin, this is a perfect base for make up that will balance your skin. It's incredibly versitile and my must have serum.

Good Things Stop That Spot
My skin has been terrible recently and this product has really cleared it up. It's not like every other spot treatment that you've come across.. It smells like fruit! No nasty chemical smell. A gorgeous berry smell that smells divine. It also is moisturising and glides over the skin without stingy any infected areas. I was very surprised when I started using this; it's nothing like a spot treatment gel yet it works just as well!

Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub
Smells like oats and well, breakfast and removes dead skin cells leaving beautifully smelling and looking soft skin. If you don't have this, you need it. It's my favourite body scrub. And I can't see that changing!

SUMMER SERIES: Pt 2 - Haircare

Hello & welcome to part 2 of my summer series (how formal)!
So, this part of the series is dedicated to hair care. I suppose I should mention that all of these products work for me. I have oily, fine hair and although these products work for me, they might not particularly work for you. However, I have included products that I believe will suit all hair types. Now that's out the way, let's get on with it!

L-R Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Tousled Salt Spray, Fudge Urban Texturising Spray, Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Split End Protection Cream, L'Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer, Fudge Urban Instant Smoothie.

I chose to include 2 salt sprays in this post just because I cannot choose between them! The two I chose are Umberto Giannini's Tousled Salt Spray and Fudge Urban's Sea Salt Spray.. Both of these create beautiful beachy waves that are perfect for the summer when your hair is getting enough heat damage from the sun! They're both incredible quick and easy to use however, the Fudge Urban one definitely works better than Umberto Giannini's on dry hair - so if you're looking for a salt spray to use on dry hair, definitely go for Fudge Urban one. They both don't make my hair greasy, don't dry it out, hold the style all day and brush out easily. Also, the Urban Fudge smells like summer, coconuts etc so it's more fitting with the theme!

I also included my favourite Herbal Essences Split End Protection Cream. When you're taking holiday snaps, you want to make sure that your hair looks beautiful and those nasty split ends will make your hair look yucky and unhealthy so this is a must! I also added L'Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer because if your hair is like mine then as soon as your hair touches water, it becomes knotty. This helps to ease the knots and also leaves hair smelling gorgeous!

You must know that horrible feeling when you leave the house with beautifully straight, frizz free hair  and as soon as you hit the sunshine, your hair turns into a huge frizz ball thanks to the humidity? Well that's no more with Fudge Urban's Instant Smoothie. Like the salt spray, this also smells gorgeous and like summer so it's guaranteed to get you in the mood! But of course, the smell isn't everything. This product actually performs. The idea of this is to lightly spray your hair after straightening, brush through and wella, beautiful frizz free hair. I honestly thought that it was too good to be true. But it really isn't! A few light sprays of this and you're good to go for the rest of the day. It really is becoming my daily staple and I wouldn't be without it. My hair is kept looking sleek and straight throughout the day - and it doesn't make my hair greasy or flat!

L-R TommyGuns Climate Control Styling Spray, TommyGuns Clever Curls & Waves Texture Spray

My two final products are by TommyGuns and this includes the Climate Control Spray which I mentioned here. This is perfect for the English weather when you cannot guarantee what the weather will bring you. Also, I've been trying out TommyGuns Clever Curls & Waves Texture Spray. This is like a salt spray but you can create two looks from this. Waves or curls.. and also a lot of texture. I love using this when my hair is up in a ponytail - it makes my ponytail look huge! Anyway, this product is wonderful; it isn't drying, it doesn't make hair greasy and it smells beautiful. You can use this on wet or dry hair.. if you leave your hair to dry naturally, you'll get gorgeous beachy waves however, if you blowdry your hair with this on, you'll get beautiful curls!

These are the products I'd recommend for summer time. What are you favourite summer hair products?

Hair Routine

I do believe that I've done one of these before but I thought it'd be nice to show you an updated version of what I use to keep my hair in good condition. So firstly, my hair type is oily, long and flat. Sounds horrible don't it? Except for the long part I guess. It's an absolute nightmare trying to keep my hair volumised and looking fresh but I've found a routine that works for me. Also, I'll add that I wash my hair daily - I know this is what could be making my hair greasy however I just cannot imagine the state my hair would be in if I let it go unwashed for a few days - yuck!

This is what's featured on my 'hair care shelf.' I'm sorry that it's pretty dark - I have no idea why! If there's anything you'd like to know more information about, please do let me know :D

L-R Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray, Tresemme 24 Hour Body Amplifying Mousse, Tresemme 24 Hour Body Blow Dry Lotion, Tresemme 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray

These are the styling products that I use. I haven't included hairspray because that changes whenever I run out as I'm still trying to find the 'perfect' hairspray. As you can see, I love Tresemme products. They work very well for my hair and they're affordable too! The 24 Hour Body range is just incredible and out of the 3 products shown here my favourite is the Blow Dry Lotion. I use the Heat Defence Styling Spray whenever I'm using heat on my hair and then I change between the other 3 depending on which one I feel like using.

L-R James Brown Intensively Glossy Rescue Treatment, Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Luscious Long, Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Split End Protection Cream

Because I have long hair it's so important to make sure it's in good condition - long hair that isn't in good condition just looks horrible! I will use the James Brown hair mask whenever I feel that my hair is lacking in moisture. This isn't very often but when I do use it, it's amazing! You only need to leave it on for 30 seconds and it literally works wonders. The Aussie 3 Minute Miracle is something that I brought the other day and so far I'm loving it. I shampoo my hair with a build up removing shampoo (see below), apply this all over and rinse, then I use my normal shampoo and rinse and then repeat my applying this to the ends of my hair. I do this about twice weekly and my hair is already looking better than usual! The Herbal Essence Beautiful Ends cream has been in my collection a while now and it's still going strong - I use this daily and it keeps my ends in tip top condition.

L-R Superdrug Green Apple & Lime Shampoo, Tresemme 24 Hour Body Shampoo and Conditioner, Liz Earle Botanical Shine Conditioner for Oily Hair

I use the Superdrug shampoo when I use my Aussie mask to remove buildup. This shampoo is meant for oily hair and if it added volume it would be my number 1 shampoo but unfortunately it doesn't. It's a  cheap shampoo and it's great for reviving my hair and getting rid of any product build up. Once again you can see the Tresemme 24 Hour Body Shampoo and Conditioner making an appearance - I love this range! Both these products are amazing and I honestly don't think I'd use any others! The Liz Earle conditioner is one that I prefer over the Tresemme one -  I have no idea why, I just do!

I'd love to know the products that you use to look after your hair - please let me know :D
