What I wore to my graduation

If you don't follow me on social media then you probably won't know that this time last week I was graduating from the University of Lincoln. I won't delve too much into the day itself but it truly was a special and proud day. The ceremony itself was held in Lincoln's cathedral and castle which created a magical setting.

The university's colours are blue and yellow so I instantly knew I wanted to wear a blue dress. Chi Chi very kindly sent me their Jenny dress* which is absolutely beautiful. It's such a princess dress and extremely well made. It has a low back but luckily comes complete with a padded bust meaning that there's no need to wear a bra. As someone with DD boobs I can vouch for the padding and say it worked very well - I was even complimented on how "great" my boobs looked on the day. Ahh, boys.

I bought my shoes from the New Look sale and although they weren't the most comfortable, they were very easy to walk in. If you've ever been to Lincoln then you'll realise how important a good pair of shoes is - there streets are cobbled! I wore a simple necklace from Primark and my fake tan is by Nottingham's Saks salon and Xen-Tan (which I've reviewed before). The nail polish on my toes is KIKO's Poker Nail Lacquer in 05* and on my fingernails is Models Own's Coconut Cream*.

What did you wear to your graduation?

WISHLIST | Workwear wardrobe

Ever since working at The Nottingham Post, I've been loving classy "grown-up" type clothes. My style has changed a lot over these past few weeks and in all honesty, I couldn't be happier with my wardrobe. There are a few other items that I'd like to add to it so I thought I'd compile a wishlist. Not just for me to remember what to buy on pay day, but for you too. In case you're looking to part with your cash for a few new items.

All items are either from Espirit or New Look, both sites that I've been loving a lot recently. The best thing about Espirit is that delivery is free. I'm someone who hates paying postage and would rather spend an extra £20 to avoid the cost. The website also has some beautiful work wear clothing. New Look speaks for itself really - I love the fact that I still have a years worth of student discount left.

Outfit of the day and a blogging break

Recently my blogging schedule has gone out of the window and I've decided to take a bit of a blogging break. This could be for a couple of days, a couple of weeks or even a few months. I won't go into too much detail but I think I need a bit of me-time, and a step away from social media. It won't be forever, I absolutely adore blogging and the escape it provides me. But I need to put myself first sometimes.

In case you didn't know, I've been working for The Nottingham Post for the past four weeks and because of this, I've featured in their newspaper and on their website a couple of times. If you're interested, you can view my features here and here. I quite like the outfit that I put together for their "fashion blogger" segment so decided to showcase it on my blog.

I do apologise about the photo. It's no secret that I'm useless when it comes to taking outfit photos. But the sun was shining so I definitely made the most. I've recently been adoring midi skirts as I find them flattering and classy. I'd be eyeing up this one from Matalan for ages so when I saw it in the sale, I knew I had to snap it up. I also love the fact that it's pink too.

WIWT | The day after Boxing Day

Top: New Look (Christmas present from my mum)
Blazer: Primark (very old)
Scarf: Christmas present from my sister
Lens mug: Christmas present from my dad and stepmum
Leggings: F&F at Tesco

When it comes to taking outfit posts, we all know that I'm an absolute mess. In all honesty, I have no idea what I'm doing and I shy away from the camera. Regardless of this, the day after Boxing Day, I went to Meadowhall with my dad and stepmum which was absolutely hectic! I loved my "day after Boxing Day" outfit so much that I thought; "to hell with it!" and here you have a very badly photographed WIWT. As soon as I opened this top from my mum, I knew I was going to get so much wear out of it. Not only are the colour and fit beautiful, but I'm a huge owl fan too. The scarf from my sister is definitely "me" and since opening it, I haven't taken it off - no literally, I was wearing it on Christmas Day in my pyjamas. As for the lens mug... HOW AMAZING IS IT?! It was also filled with sachets of hot chocolate. I adore it so much. But anyway, now I have my new camera, I promise I will try and get better at these things now. I am attending an SLR course in March so hopefully I'll be able to say, "forget the landscapes, teach me how to take OOTD posts." Then again, maybe not...

What did you wear around Christmas time?

WISHLIST | Winter Boots

As much as I hate the cold, I sure do love winter fashion. Cosy coats, beautiful boots and snug scarves certainly do it for me. I absolutely adore layering up and feeling comfortable and safe. Recently, I bought a pair of boots from Primark for just £10. They're brown and lovely and they've made me want even more. So above, I've compiled a "winter boots wishlist" much to the dismay of my bank balance. I've never owned a pair of high leg boots before (that I'm aware of) but since spotting the ones above from New Look and Equestrian Clearance, I'm really lusting after some. The heeled boots from New Look are must-haves for me - after all, I'm a student who goes out quite a lot and on the dreaded walk to the nightclub and home, I don't want my feet getting cold. I certainly will be investing in another pair of boots and I've already been sending images of ones I'd like for Christmas to my mother.

What boots are you currently lusting after?

LOOKBOOK: Ooh La La

Blouse: Primark
Skirt: H&M
Shoes: New Look
I wrote this post yesterday and this morning I woke up and Britney's new song - called "Ooh La La" - for the Smurfs 2 movie has actually leaked! So that was a great start to my morning. It's such a fun, cute pop song and it makes me happy. Anyway, I'm going out tonight so I thought I'd show you what I'm going to be wearing. I've been loving skirts at the moment and when I saw this H&M skirt on a blog sale, I knew I had to have it. It's such a classic colour and it reminds me of being a little school girl with the pleats. I've had the blouse for a while now, I wore it when I met the Spice Girls and it gives off a vintage vibe which I think looks great with the skirt - hopefully. I am going into town later on today as I'm going to have to get some nude tights as I just can't be bothered to fake tan while the weather is this miserable haha. I hope you all have a lovely day and I might post another post later on today :)

WISHLIST: Westfield

Westfield Wishlist

I was recently gifted a Westfield gift card* and since receiving it, it's been burning a hole in my pocket. The closest Westfield to me is Derby however, being based in Lincoln, it's still pretty far and I'd need money to get there. So I either need to wait a little while and go to the one in London or wait until I go back home after my exams and take a visit. So to tame my needs, I've compiled a wishlist with a few items from some of the stores from Westfield Derby. I've included a crop top on my wishlist as it's something that I'd like to try out. I'm by no means comfortable enough to show my stomach but I do think crop tops look really pretty paired with a high waisted skirt so barely no - if any - skin is showing. I've also included a lightweight jumper as I think they're perfect for throwing over an outfit when it gets a little bit cooler in the summer. I tweeted the other day how excited I am for the return of pinafore dresses so of course, I'm desperately in need of one and this one from New Look is just perfection. A Jemma wishlist wouldn't be complete without a few cat items and I fell in love with this top a few weeks ago and as soon as I saw these shoes, I knew I needed them - aren't they just the most adorable things in the world?! I've also been after some disco pants for a while and New Look do their own version for a fraction of the American Apparel price so although the weather is getting warmer, I'll be getting myself a pair. The tea dress, cross dress and pale skirt were items I saw and loved. I've been wearing a lot of skirts recently because of the warm weather and I'd like to expand my collection. And of course, dresses are key items in any girls wardrobe. And finally, I've been saying that I've needed the Models Own Neon Yellow nail polish for a really long time now so when I visit Westfield, I WILL pick it up, without a doubt. Have you ever been to a Westfield? What items are you currently lusting for?

*I was given the giftcard as a gift from a PR company but I was not asked to write this post or compensated for it.

OOTD: Yellow peplum

Outfit of the day posts definitely scare me. I'm awkward at posing and I'm worried about what you all will think of my outfit. Also, there's nowhere to take a decent outfit post in my apartment - queue Britney Spears stage, Britney posters, TV and wrapping paper in the background - but I've finally braved it. This outfit is pretty simple and it's just one that I wore to go shopping and to the library the other day in. The top is peplum style but it's pretty subtle and I love the yellow detailing - a colour I usually shy away from. I bought this top in the sales a while ago from Primark and I think it cost me just £3 but I'd never wore it a lot until more recently. Probably because my recent weight loss (and then gain after Easter, oops) has made me a little bit more confident. The skirt is a simple black bodycon skirt from New Look and the leggings are of course, Primark. I also have my shamballa bracelet on that my mum bought me - however you can't see it very well in this picture, it's pink and white though. So there you have it, a simple outfit. I hope you like it - eek.

Reunion outfit of the night and eyes of the night

For the first time in two years I met up with some of my school friends and we went out into town on Bank Holiday. It was an amazing night and I loved catching up with them. But onto the important bit, my hair, outfit and make up... On my eyes I used Urban Decay's Midnight Cowboy over the lid, Darkhorse in the crease and Stray Dog on the outer corners and underneath the eyes. I then used Seventeen's Tattoo Me Semi Permanent Liquid Liner to create a winged eyeliner. This eyeliner is very easy to use and lasts forever. It lasts so long that it's difficult to remove which is a pain but great for nights out. I used Seventeen's Doll'd Up Mascara which is amazing. A complete bargain and finally I used KIKO's Vivid Eyes Kajal and Eyeliner* on the waterline.
Shirt: New Look
Disco Pants: eBay
Heels: New Look
This wasn't an outfit that I really wanted to wear but seeing as I didn't bring any "going out clothes" back home, I had no choice. The outfit was really comfy though. I wanted my hair curled but I didn't take any curlers back home either and my GHD's just weren't curling anything. I looked in my wardrobe and saw the rag rollers that I used and they ended up making my hair look really nice which was a big surprise.
So there you have it! A last minute outfit, a use-what-you-have hair and make up look. What do you think?

POLYVORE: Cat wishlist

Cat wishlist

I love cats. There's no doubting that. And I'm loving all of the cat clothing that's making its way onto the high street at the minute. So I thought I'd compile a Polyvore wishlist with all of the cat clothing I'm currently lusting over - oh student loan, I do wish you'd hurry up! I'm in desperate need of the Topshop and Dorothy Perkins jumpers, the River Island skirt and the New Look tshirt. What do you think about the cat clothing trend? Do you love cats? Post your favourite cat items below.

OOTN: Fairies

On Wednesday night, me and my friends went out dressed as fairies so I thought I'd show you my make up and outfit of the night. I wanted to go out as a gothic fairy as I have a dark purple lipstick that I've wanted to us for ages. On my eyes I used Urban Decay's Gunmetal and on the lid and Creep in the crease and underneath my eyes. I then used Sin as a highlighter in the inner corners of my eyes and on the brow bone. My eye liner is Collection 2000's Extreme 24 hour Felt Tip Liner and I also used KIKO's Vivid Eyes* on my water line. I used Lancome's Hypnose Drama mascara Ardell's false eyelashes in 101. The lipstick I used was Gosh's Velvet Touch lipstick in Amethyst. The dress I wore is from New Look and my blazer is from Tesco. I must also apologise for my skin on the second picture - on Wednesday it still hadn't heeled from my reaction but now I'm proud of report that it's 100% healed and I'll be posting a "Skin Saviour" post very soon. I hope that you've all had a good week!

Steve Madden Playy-R Platforms

This is a "fashion" post that I couldn't resist doing. I've never been a shoe person - gasps all round I know - I've always been more of a make up person to be honest. But when I saw these beautiful Steve Madden shoes on offer in New Look, I couldn't resist buying them. In fact, I bought these early in January with my birthday money off of my dad. They're glitzy, glamorous and of course, Steve Madden! They're my first pair of designer heels and I'm in love with them. So in love with them that I haven't worn them out yet. And also because they are pretty high and I struggle to walk in them but we'll just ignore that part. They are a platform heel (as the name suggests) and the heel is so high for someone who's used to wearing 3 inches. The heels themselves are 5 inches but the platform is 1 inch. I bought these for £25.50 instead of £84.99 and you can see me wearing the shoes here. These shoes (in size 5) are still on sale in New Look and you can find them here. They're on sale in grey too which you can find here. However, if you're not a size 5 you can find them on eBay here. If you want to see more of the Steve Madden/New Look range then click here.

WISHLIST: Playsuits

1, 2, 3, 45, 6, 7.
Playsuits are my one true love at the moment. I think they're easy to wear and ridiculously cute. I currently only have two of them - this one from New Look and one which I recently purchased from Lashes of London after writing this blog post (a full blog post on the playsuit will be up soon). As you can see, there's a little theme running through these playsuits - I love dark colours, particularly black as I think it's the most flattering colour. I also love cute, ditsy playsuits with bows, collars, animal prints, sequins and lace. The playsuit that I need the most is the pinafore one from Topshop. However it's so expensive! So I'm currently searching all over eBay in the hopes of finding something similar for cheaper. Or if you've seen another brand do a similar version, please do let me know. When I met DollyBowBow at the Spice Girls event she was wearing it and she looked beautiful in it. It's such a staple piece and although it is expensive, I know I'd get a lot of wear out of it. But that doesn't persuade a cheap skate like me enough!
