Dermaflage Dermal Filler Starter Kit + Giveaway

It's no secret that I'm covered in acne scars. Some of them aren't that bad - tiny pigmentation marks that are easy to cover up - but others go deeper and end up making my skin look uneven and bumpy. No amount of concealer can cover these and it goes without saying that they make me feel exceptionally insecure. On a day to day basis I can deal with them but for more special occasions, I hate them and I've never managed to find a way to cover them up. Up until now (wow, doesn't that sound like a snazzy advert)! The Dermaflage Dermal Filler Starter Kit is a facial scar treatment that has been specially designed to cover up many skin imperfections including scars, wrinkles and cuts.

Dermaflage uses a patented blend of medical grade silicones, cosmetic pigments and tiny coloured rayon fibres which blend together to form a silicone mask that looks like your own skin. In fact, it's pretty scary how natural and real it ends up looking once set. Think of Dermaflage like a revamped, kick-ass concealer. At first, I struggled using this but now, I find it quick and simple to use. It took a bit of getting used to because it's unlike anything I've ever tried before. You pop it on top of your make up using three easy steps: prime, apply and texture and you're good to go for a full day.

The kit comes in six colour varieties: Golden, Fair, Rosy, Bronze, Tan and Dark and you view the different colours here. When you order from JD Harris, the kit comes with satisfaction guaranteed so if you order the wrong version you can simply return it and they'll swap it for you. The kit contains: two tubes of Dermaflage dermal filler in two different skin tones, extended wear primer brush-on, mixing stick, precision application tool, spatula, texture pad and instructions. I however, didn't follow the instructions and instead followed this YouTube video which shows you how incredible the product is.

I was worried that the silicones would react with my skin and cause me to break out however, they haven't done so yet and I doubt that they will. This product, like I've mentioned above, is a bit fiddly so I don't use it every single day - just for those special occasions (like my sister's graduation next Wednesday - eeek). It makes my skin look more even and comes my acne scarring better than any concealer I've ever tried. It is pricey, yes but after suffering with scarring for 5 years, it's definitely worth the price and it's a kit that I'll always have in my collection for those special moments.

To be in with a chance of winning your very own Dermaflage kit, you must be a UK resident and you must fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

You can buy Dermaflage here where it's currently on offer for £31.95 instead of £43.95 - you also get a 90 day money back guarantee so if you don't get on with the product, you can send it back for a refund.

Have you ever tried Dermaflage? What are your thoughts on it?

How I Fake (Almost) Perfect Skin with Comparison Photos

My skin is one thing that I hate and really lack confidence in however, I've now found the perfect skin care routine for me and the perfect foundation/base routine to cover up my imperfections. Don't get me wrong, it's taken me about 6 years to find this out through a lot of trial and error but in the end, it's so worth it. So after my skin care routine, I thought it'd be nice to show you how I apply my base/face products to create what I can class as flawless skin.
L-R
I use all of the following products with this brush as it's so versatile and products full coverage with every single product that I use. I stipple these products onto the skin so that they're really packed on and then I buff them into the skin using a circular motion (except the concealer) to make sure that they look seamless. I absolutely love this brush and cannot recommend it enough. I'm saving up my Boots points for the face set from Real Techniques as I really want the Buffing Brush too!
This is my all time favourite concealer and it's so cheap. It's high coverage and lasts throughout the entire day. I use this on my spots, scars and also underneath my eyes and everything is covered. I use this after my MaxFactor Pan Stix has been applied.
This is amazing and you can see how well it covers alone here. I use this after moisturiser and primer as a sort of base to my foundation. It provides very good coverage alone but when it comes to night time and going out and I really want flawless skin, I'll just use this as a base. It's also a skincare product so it doesn't irritate the skin which is always a bonus!
I always, always try out new foundations and I'll always say 'this is my new favourite!' But I will always end up back at this one. It's full coverage and lasts throughout the day. It literally does not budge until you cleanse it away. It isn't heavy even though it's high coverage and it blends in like a dream with the stippling brush. I use this after my BB cream.
I'll use this after my concealer as an all over face powder. It doesn't cake on the skin and provides a lasting shine-free finish on the skin. It just literally melts away into the skin and I cannot recommend it enough. I don't think I'll ever use another face powder!
I use this after my foundation but just on my scarring and the areas that need extra coverage. It can be used as an all over foundation but I do find that it can get heavy and budge if it's used like that. So I just use it sparingly and it provides incredible coverage and when powdered, doesn't move.
As always, this is a nasty picture of my skin after it's just been moisturised. It isn't a pretty sight and I barely ever go out without make up on as I can't stand the sight of it. It has gotten better recently and it did used to be a lot worse. I found a terrible picture of my skin from 2010 on my Twitter account and I literally burst into tears - it was so bad!
And this is a picture of my skin after all of the products above have been used and applied. The change is incredible and the greatest thing about this is that it will last throughout the day. I won't ever do this during the day time though unless I'm going out all day.. During the day, I'll just wear my BB cream alone. But on nights out, I always go through this routine and it's fail safe and my skin will always look incredible in photos!
What products do you use to create flawless skin?

Bio-Oil Campaign - Accept Your Imperfections

1 in 3 women feel self-conscious, embarrassed, worried or even ashamed about having scars or stretch marks. And nearly 1 in 5 women report that scars and stretch marks have a negative impact on what they choose to wear. Which is shocking as both are very common - on average, every woman has three scars and 43% of all women have stretch marks somewhere on their body from puberty, pregnancy or weight gain.

To help improve the nation's relationship with their skin blemishes, Bio-Oil has launched 'Skin Stories.' This campaign celebrates every scar and stretch mark and helps women realise that all of theirs has a story to tell. The campaign in centred around Facebook and it encourages women to upload their own Skin Stories as inspiration to other women. Not only this but Bio-Oil will donate £1 to the British Skin Foundation for every story in order to help fund research into skin health.

Now for me personally, I do have scars. I have a few scars on my face that have been left from spots when I was a teenager. I can remember absolutely hating them when I was younger. I wouldn't want to leave the house and I'd never been seen without make up to cover them up. But now, I've accepted them. They're a part of who I am and they've made me see how far I've come, skin wise. It may not seem like a lot to you and people who have never suffered with bad skin may not understand the negative impact it has upon your life. But your self confidence is shattered. But seeing my scars makes me see how much I've grown as a person and now, I'm proud to have them. I can go outside and face the world without make up. It may have taken me a few years, but I've got there. Also, if I'd have never suffered with bad skin, I wouldn't have taken an interest in make up and beauty products so therefore I'd never have found blogging. And right now, I can't imagine my life without it.
