Get your feet ready for the summer

I think it's increasingly important to look after the skin on our feet. After all, we're walking on them constantly. When it comes to summer, the last thing we want to be doing is covering up our feet because we're embarrassed by them. The excess sweat will only cause further problems. So ensuring your feet are in tip top condition throughout the summer (and winter!) months is a definite must. Recently, I've discovered quite a few foot care products that I've found an absolute pleasure to use.

This is without a doubt the best electronic foot smoothing device I've ever used. It comes with two different discs - one for exfoliating and one for buffing - and both of these work perfectly together to ensure the feet are left soft and smooth. It's easy to hold, doesn't cause mess, looks pretty and is affordable too.

Weleda Foot Balm* - £9.95
Out of all of the foot creams mentioned in this post, this is definitely my favourite. It's wonderful in summer as it really does cool and refresh tired feet. The non-greasy formula sinks into the skin beautifully and leaves behind soft feet that smell delicious - if that's at all possible (it uses essential oils of lavender, rosemary, sweet orange and litsea cubeba). The Foot Balm also has a formula which helps to strengthen the skin to protect it against blisters. As someone who suffers with blisters quite badly, this is a godsend to read.

I love how small and dinky this tube is, it makes it perfect for travelling. This cream uses urea, which is is the moisturiser that is found naturally in the human body. This helps to keep the skin soft and supple and the cream is lanolin free and hypo-allergenic. This is my morning foot cream as it sinks into the skin quickly and isn't scented.

This super hydrating cream is rich in Oleic acid and combines deep moisturising and nourishing properties. It's fast acting and penetrates the skin deeply, meaning it's perfect for extremely dry cracked areas of the feet. I originally used this when my feet were in really bad condition and this helped restore them. It's now been passed over to my mum but I still highly recommend it to those with cracked feet.

Foot care routine

One thing I love about summer is wearing sandals. I'm not one for trainers, wellies or any other enclosed shoe. I absolutely adore pretty rose gold sandals where I can show off my painted toe nails. So now that the weather is getting - a little bit - better, I've decided to go full blown into a foot care routine. I will throw my hands up and admit that in the winter, I barely ever look after my feet. In fact, I only use a foot spa on them after a long day at work on Sunday evenings. So after an array of heels, working, walking and just general wear and tear, my feet haven't been looking good. However, I've been following this foot care routine religiously for a few weeks and already, my feet are looking in tip-top pristine condition.

My mum bought me this for Christmas after hearing my constant moaning about how badly my feet were hurting me after a night out. This has a bubble, massage and heat and a massage setting. I always use the bubble, massage and heat setting though as it's really lovely. After using this, my feet feel really clean and virtually pain free. It's lovely being able to relax after a long, hard day in your own home watching YouTube.

Emoji Micro Pedi* - £39.99
This is a pricey little product but it's definitely worth the extra pennies. I've reviewed it before (link) so I won't go into too much detail about it but it's a really good item. It instantly files hard skin down without any effort and when used daily, your feet will soon be looking and feeling gorgeous. I personally use this a couple of times a week to "touch-up" my feet. The thing I love the most about this is how effortless it is - it's literally like your shaving the hard skin off of your feet.

Ooh this is a little beauty! Invented by the winner of the 2011 Apprentice - already a wonder product in my eyes - this has been shaped to fit the contours of the feet to make filing and smoothing your feet easier than ever. It also catches any "droppings" so you don't end up with a messy floor. Think of it like a better designed Ped-Egg. It comes with a filing side and a smoothing side, both are replaceable and easy to use. This just makes looking after your feet a whole lot easier and it also does a wonderful job too. I did review it in full here if you'd like to see.

Another product from the Naturally Made for You brand is their Peppermint Foot Scrub which smells delicious. The formula of this is quite oily and it really penetrates deeply into the skin. It's a real joy to use and the exfoliating grains are harsh but not too harsh - I hate it when foot scrubs tickle my feet. It smells delicious and how all foot products should smell.

This does everything that it claims to do. I use this at night when I've been on my feet for most the day so at work or after a night out. This is a really rich and thick cream and it takes a little while longer to sink into the feet but it makes a massive difference. After using this for only a few days I'd seen a marked improvement on my heels. If you have really cracked heels then I'd highly recommend this.

Lotil Foot Care Cream* - Price unknown
I've reviewed the Lotil Foot Care Cream before (link) so I won't go into too much detail but this is the cream that I use at night time when I haven't been on my feet all day. It sinks into the heels nice and quickly and doesn't leave any nasty film. When I wake up in the morning, my feet look a whole lot better than the night before.

This product is a genius and a must-have for those of you who already have pretty good feet. I use this during the day as it helps to keep my feet in good condition. It's light, moisturising and a product that I can't live without. It helps to maintain the condition of your feet and prevent any hard skin from forming. It's a real little genius.

I think it's also worth mentioning the Footner Hard Skin Removal Pen which I talked about here. I do think that the pen idea is a bit gimmicky and it actually makes applying the product harder but the cream itself is wonderful. It sinks into the skin and instantly makes the skin smoother and softer. What products do you use to look after your feet? Have you tried any of the products mentioned above?

REVIEW: Emjoi MICROPedi

In more recent years I think we can all agree that there's been a lot of new pedicure products available for us on the market. I personally think it's great as pedicures in salons aren't that cheap and also, it's hard to find the time to go and sit for an hour or so whilst someone works their magic on our feet. So for me personally, it's great to have at home products that we can use in our spare time. And for me, the easier the better. I've tried out the PedEgg before and I do love it - I even recommended it to my dad a few days ago. But a new product that's graced the scene recently is the Emjoi MICROPedi* and I've been using it for a while now.
First of all, the MICROPedi comes with the battery-operated device (2AA batteries aren't included), a coarse (pink) and extra coarse (blue) interchangeable micro-mineral rollers, an instruction booklet and cleaning brush. The micro-mineral rollers do of course lose their strength and coarseness over time but you can repurchase them for just £10.45 which I don't think is a bad price. Since I received this MICROPedi two months ago I've used it at least 3 times a week and so far, the rollers haven't worn down. I have tried out the pink roller and I find that it works better than the blue roller on sensitive areas such as the toes as it doesn't tickle them as much. It's easy to change from roller to roller and takes a few seconds.
What I love the most about this is how easy it is to use. The handle is a great size and I love how the head has been designed on an angle which makes it very simple to reach the heel of your foot. I must admit that at first I found using this a bit strange. The way that you use it is sort of in a shaving motion and it was very weird but after a couple of times I got used to it and I actually enjoyed it. The unique roller spins 360ยบ at 30 times a second and this gently, effortlessly and effectively buffs away the dead, hard and jagged skin on your feet. The device itself is 100% pain free and like I mentioned earlier, all you do is turn the device on and roll the roller over your feet in a shaving motion - it's that simple. I find that I can do this whilst tweeting on the laptop too because you only need one hand to do it. The one thing that lets this product down is that you do have to use a bin underneath your feet as unlike the PedEgg, there's nothing to collect the dead skin that's being shaved off you feet. But it's not that much of a problem.
The difference has been incredible and I myself, was shocked. I've obviously used the device before and I'd fallen in love with it but my feet were never that bad to begin with so whilst I noticed a difference, I didn't think the difference would be this big. My skin don't only look soft they feel it too.
Have you tried this device before? Will you be doing?
This is available for £34.95 (currently on offer) here and also from larger Boots stores.

My Footcare Routine

When it comes to summertime it's especially important to keep your feet looking in tip top condition - especially if you wear sandals a lot.. which I do! I though it'd be interesting to show you what products I use on my feet. I only use 4 and my routine is really simple, quick and keeps my feet looking smooth and feeling soft.
Liz Earle Foot Scrub - £10.45 & Foot Repair Moisturiser - £12.50
I've reviewed both of these products before and you find my reviews  here. I'm still loving both of these foot care products.. they do the job and smell gorgeous at the same time. They've changed the way my feet look and feel!

This product doesn't smell very nice at all and normally, I would stop using a product if I didn't like the smell. I know some people that don't mind this smell and some people say it smells lovely so I definitely think it's a personally preference. So don't let me opinion put you off! However, this heel stick is incredible. If you're like me and the skin you get on your heels is really dry then this product is for you! My Liz Earle Foot Moisturiser might be amazing but this heelstick adds even more moisture to the skin and REALLY softens the heels. Infact, after using this once I noticed a big difference in the skin on my heels. This texture is a balm texture and you only need a tiny, tiny amount and because the product is huge, it'll definitely last you a really long time.

PedEgg - £9.99
This is a wonder product.
As you can see it has two sides to it. On the left is the side you use second in order to smooth the feet and on the right is the side you use to remove dead skin and 'file' the feet. Seriously, this does the job. It isn't painful, it removes dead skin, smooths the feet and best of all, it catches all the dead skin in the egg so you don't get skin all over the floor! I really cannot rate this product enough. It's amazing!

So this is the order I use these products and how often I use them:
1. Liz Eare Foot Scrub; every other day.
2. PedEgg; every other day.
3. JML Heel Tastic; every other day.
4. Liz Earle Foot Repair Moisturiser; once a day.

My feet are now in the best condition that they've ever been in. All 4 of these products work perfectly together to smooth and buff the skin to perfection.

What products do you use on your feet? What's your routine like? Do you use any of these products?
